Streamer season is underway.
The ice in most of the higher elevation lakes has melted completely or receding quickly above 8500’.
The water however is very cold still and fish are 30′ to 40‘ down and not willing to move up into the shallows for long periods of time.
If you can get down to them, you will catch some fish. Along with cool water, we have had A LOT of wind and clouds that keep the water from warming. Until we can get some sun on the water for some consecutive days, the fish will remain in the deeper water where they are comfortable.
Fast sinking lines are helpful for this condition.
We have been taking fish with The BabyWhitey and Juvenile Trout streamers .
Slow stripping action with pauses has been the most effective retrieves.
