Getting together with family and friends in the summer months is always a good time. But spending a weekend in Yellowstone with my son and friends has become an annual tradition and a time to reflect on the fact that time never stops ticking and life never pauses. Time spent with my son, Jace, is a precious commodity and I realize we must take advantage of. We have had some of our most memorable times hiking in the remote parts of the park. Like the time I had to chase him down after he took off running towards a feeding 2000 pound bison and said he was going to slap it on the rear??? Or the time we both couldn’t sleep because there was a bear outside of our tent. There are so many good, wonderful and beautiful things about the park. The fishing can be tough sometimes and also very rewarding. Jace has managed to catch some really nice and very cooperative fish there which helps tremendously to hold young mens attention if they happen to be suffering from video game withdrawals. The beautiful Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout, the Native fish to the area can bring a sense of awe to a young persons face when they hold one for the first time. We caught a few nice fish on this trip and more importantly got to spend time together in a very special place doing what I love and what he is coming to appreciate more and more with every passing year. We are already talking about next years Yellowstone adventure!
